Knowing when to stop

In early 2007, when gambling was still legal in SL (and the grid was covered with shiny, blingy Casino’s and pokerpalaces) I worked as hostess and pokerdealer in the Amsterdam Poker Palace. Stupid and simple job really, as ‘dealing’ was nothing more than pushing the right buttons on the fully automatic pokertable and occasionally say ‘nice hand’ or ‘good game’ on the right moments. Allthough I made a lot of Linden Dollars, I never actually played poker myself. To be honest, I do not even understand the whole game! Confession: I cant play any kind of cardgame! LOL! Did not matter, I was good in getting people to play and stay and spend their monies and giving me huge tips!’
So, in those days I saw people spending huge amounts..amazing. The addiction can be scary, seeing it happen to people. The arguments, begging for money ( I will pay you back, I am going to win tonight!! Yeah, right…). I don’t think I have seen people getting rich from playing poker in SL, the only one making money was the table-owner. Oh yeah, and the pokerdealer.

Then LL banned Poker and gambling as a whole in SL and people thought the sky was falling! SL would be dead! Gone!
It did not, obviously and now the pokerdays are a memory, slowly fading away…

Every now and then, when I am online and have an empty friendslist because nobody is online, I like to go to one of the big Kicker or Zyngo places and gamble a bit. Apparently these games are still legal. Not much fun, it’s all machines and no interaction. So why do I play Jaded Jokers?!
If I knew..haha! Anyway, this morning I spend 100 LS and won 200 LS back, so thats a good start of the day. With all the pokeraddicts still in my mind, I think I do know when to stop: when the money I intended to spend is gone (I set a playlimit for myself) or when I have won a bit and I have more than I started with (as happend this morning).

Think this was my gamblingmoment for the coming 2-3 months, luckily I do not feel the urge to play often!

Jaded Jokers
Ooh, I won 100 L$!

Don’t just lurk, comment!
