I truly admire those people who manage to decorate their homes for every season or holiday in Second Life. You know the type, their parcels transform from cosy pumpkin patches in October, to snowy wonderlands in December, to pastel bunny paradises in April. They live in a perpetual rotation of themed perfection, complete with matching outfits and coordinated windlights.
Meanwhile, I’m over here still dusting off last year’s tulips.

🌸 Perpetual Spring and the Art of Denial
See, I have what I like to call “Eternal Spring Syndrome.”
My ranch lives in a constant state of mild sunshine, blooming flowers, and happy little chickens and bees, because after the amount of time it took me to landscape it once, I simply cannot bear the thought of tearing it all down again for the sake of a few dead leaves. Just thinking about taking every plant, flower, and decor item back into my inventory gives me mild virtual anxiety.
And don’t even get me started on the seasonal cycle: fall… then winter… then spring again… By the time I’d finally finish decorating, I’d have to start over. It’s the hamster wheel of homemaking.
🎃 The Great Autumn Guilt Trip
But alas, autumn is here, in both worlds, and I started feeling a little guilty as I scrolled through Flickr and Primfeed, seeing everyone’s beautiful fall photos. Golden trees! Misty mornings! Cinnamon-scented candle spam! So, I decided to give it a try in my beach house. (Yes, I have several houses. No, I don’t need that kind of judgment right now.)
So off I went, bravely diving into the depths of my inventory, searching for anything vaguely “fall.” Two hours later, I had found… a pumpkin, a plaid blanket, and something that may or may not have been a dead fern. Naturally, I bought a new chair and rug, and also some autumny decor, because what’s a seasonal refresh without accidental shopping?

🪑 The Chair That Moved 37 Times
Then I spent another two hours placing the chair. Then moving it. Then rotating it. Then, deciding it looked better where it started. At that point, I declared victory. My autumn makeover was complete.
This, dear friends, is my attempt at Autumn, and actually, I’m not even that disappointed. The rug really ties the season together.

🌞 Back to My Comfort Zone: Eternal Spring
Now I will gracefully retreat to my ranch, where the sun always shines, the grass never fades, and not a single leaf dares to fall.
There, I will sit quietly, sipping my chilled white wine, and contemplate whether I’ll ever find the courage (and emotional stability) to attempt a winter ranch.
Truth? Probably not.
