….an angry god caused a huge flood. The giant wave destroyed civilizations, extinguished mythical creatures, and washed off all colour on the surface of the earth….

Fantasy Faire 2017 - Opal Flight - IV - blogpost

And so begins the story of Opal Flight, the place for Art and Entertainment on the Fairelands, created by Haveit Neox and Lillia Artis. (read this interview with these great builders, for the rest of the story!)

Fantasy Faire 2017 - Opal flight - I - BlogpostII

Opal Flight is that place you go to and dive underwater to enjoy the art, the fish and the colours.  A perfect spot to unwind after exploring and/or partying or, as in my case today,  to just float about a bit, while drinking strong coffee when waking up!

A video I made this morning:

I love Opal Flight, it is very much Haveit Neox and Lilia Artis, and I was happy to discover this sim last week – it reminded me of last year’s Sapphire Mirror Lake which I enjoyed a lot and there is nothing wrong with the feeling of ‘coming home to the Fairelands’.

My video from last year, still one of my personal favourites:

In case you think you need to hurry, as today is the last day of the Fantasy Faire: fear not, here is a surprise!

Even though our planned programming is ending with a six hour closing party on Monday, May 1 from 1-7pm SLT, there is no reason to be sad because we have the Fairelands to roam around until THURSDAY the 4th of May!

As long as the Fairelands are here, the quest is playable and shopping and exploring encouraged!

Event times and places

Silent Auction ends on Monday, 3 PM SLT

Live Auction on Sunday, 2 – 4 PM SLT in Opal Flight

One of the most hilarious traditions on the Fantasy Faire is: the tour with the bus over the Fairelands.
Every year, skilled and certified bus-driver,  Alia Baroque welcomes all who dare…err…want,  to  his bus for a special tour around the Faire. A wonderful way to enjoy the scenery and have a look at all the amazing places from your comfortable seat in the vehicle.

Last night the first tour was scheduled, how fitting: on #worldpenguinday and I was one of the lucky passengers to get a seat! We departed from The Rose and ̶t̶h̶e̶n̶ ̶c̶r̶a̶s̶h̶e̶d̶ ̶i̶n̶t̶o̶ ̶, arrived at Dawns Promise for a short break. After that refreshing pause we got to see the wonders of The Hills where Alia The Penguin t̶h̶r̶e̶w̶ ̶u̶s̶ ̶o̶u̶t̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶b̶u̶s̶ ̶m̶i̶d̶a̶i̶r̶, let us wander about a bit to have a good look. Amazing sim!

Did you know Raven’s Perch looks absolutely delightful from a 90 degrees view? Recommended!

Unfortunately I was not able to sit out the entire tour d̶u̶e̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶a̶i̶r̶ ̶s̶i̶c̶k̶n̶e̶s̶s̶ because of an important meeting and I had to jump off on Chaddul Ro.

If you have time, and see the bus passing by, hop on and do the tour, it is: A Sweet Ride!

THE event of the year, since years in Second Life for me is:  The Fantasy Faire. And I am thrilled, excited ánd very proud that the FF 2017 organisation again asked me to contribute on the official Fantasy Faire website/blog as guest author and as photographer.

The Fantasy Faire 2017 will span 15 sims and I am already sure they all will be amazing, the Fairelands open to the public 20-30 April and it is an offical SL RFL event. One of the biggest in Second Life.

Merchants can apply already and blogger application will open soon, for more information on that,  please check the offical Fantasy Faire website!

On a side note, there is this.

One of the veteran Fantasy Faire sim designers for years is Elicio Ember, known from his home Cerridwen Cauldron and his awesome sims for past Fantasy Faires.
This year he had to pull out from the Faire, for personal – tragic – reasons, his father got seriously ill and in the country he lives (Mexico) , treatment is possible but at a high cost.
Due to circumstances, all explained on this website Filling the Cauldron, Elicio cannot be a part of his beloved Faire as he is facing not only caring for his father but also a lot of medical costs.

The Fantasy Faire community and lovers of Cerridwen’s Cauldron have stepped up, and while Elicio will not be able to participate in this years Faire, the Second Life community can participate by helping him out.

RUNNING FROM SATURDAY APRIL 1ST THROUGH SUNDAY APRIL 9TH, Filling the Cauldron will be a region-wide event at Holly Kai Park  – by Inara Pey and Caitlin Pey (caitlyn015.resident) in the beautiful Blake sea, and will be featuring:

–   Live music and DJ performances at the park’s main events venue
–   An art display inspired by Elicio’s work
–   An auction
–   A special Design a Garden contest with a very special prize
–   A photo contest with special prizes
–   A market area, Cerridwen’s Corner – a mini-store of Elicio’s creations, allowing you to buy his items & visit his main store.

Filling the Cauldron. Check it out.

See you at the Fantasy Faire!
