Shadows, lights and ambient occlusion

One of the features in Kirstens S20, the viewer I use for 6 months now, is the possibility to live in a world with very realistic shadows. I never really took the time to try it out, so this morning I did, being curious!

It’s indeed amazing, I had to set the graphics to the max and tick the boxes:

Graphic settings for enabling shadows

After that, put the world on sunset and took these pics on ImperiuM Island:

ImperiuM Island - Shadows enabled, sunset
ImperiuM Island - shadows and sunset II

As comparison a shot in normal preferences, high but no shadows:

ImperiuM Island - 'normal'

It’s lovely and even my avatar had her own shadow! One thing I did not really enjoy while in these settings: my fps dropped from a normal 50-65 to 4….Hard to walk around! Guess sparring with shadows is out of the question, hehe. But, for taking nice photo’s of scenery it is great!

PS: all photo’s in this blogpost are originals from SL, meaning I have not photoshopped them!

Don’t just lurk, comment!
