Beach, Please! A  Review of Three Second Life Beaches

Every summer I face the same dilemma. Do I need another bikini?

Objectively? No. My inventory already contains enough swimwear to open a small beach boutique. Emotionally? Absolutely.

The problem is that buying summer outfits without a destination feels irresponsible. Fortunately, Second Life is full of beaches that desperately require investigation.

So I packed several sunny fashion choices and set off to review three very different seaside destinations.

Margarita Beach (Moderate)

Margarita Beach is tucked away on the Mainland and somehow manages to feel like you’ve accidentally stumbled onto a deserted tropical island. The lagoon is surrounded by dense jungle, with flamingos happily wandering about as if they’re being paid to pose for Flickr.

The beach itself is charming, peaceful and wonderfully photogenic. I even discovered a natural hot tub hidden among the rocks, which instantly upgraded the entire experience. Ten out of ten, would soak again.

I didn’t venture far into the jungle, mostly because I had made the questionable decision to wear an outfit that screamed “beach tourist” rather than “competent explorer.” Somewhere in those lush trees there are undoubtedly hidden treasures. Or mosquitoes.

This feels like the perfect spot for a first date, a relaxed afternoon with friends, or spending an hour pretending you’re on holiday while actually sitting behind your computer.

Verdict: Tropical, peaceful and picture-perfect. Just maybe leave the high heels at home. Also, the bar did not serve margaritas!

Boardwalk Beach by Dream Seeker Estates (Moderate)

Boardwalk Beach takes a completely different approach to the seaside experience. Rather than quiet tropical relaxation, this place says, “Would you like a beach with absolutely everything attached to it?”

The sandy beach itself is fairly modest, but the enormous boardwalk is packed with things to do. Shops, arcade games, amusement rides, bowling, mini golf, kayaking, fishing, you could probably spend an entire afternoon here without touching the water.

Behind the boulevard sits a cheerful fairground complete with a ferris wheel, bumper cars and plenty of nostalgic seaside charm. It feels like the kind of place where your avatar would beg for ice cream and immediately drop it on the boardwalk.

It’s family-friendly, colourful and very photogenic. If you’ve got kids, or simply enjoy embracing your inner ten-year-old, there’s enough here to keep you entertained for quite a while.

Verdict: Less deserted island, more classic seaside holiday. Bring your camera and your sense of fun.

Qaldera (Adult)

Qaldera is absolutely stunning.

Wide sandy beaches, beautiful ocean views, and perched above it all is an elegant mansion complete with a luxurious swimming pool. Ideal for those who believe sand is nature’s glitter and would rather lounge beside perfectly chlorinated water.

There are countless places to relax, whether you’re looking for a peaceful afternoon or… let’s call it “a more memorable second date.” The adult furniture scattered around certainly suggests the latter. Romance appears to be actively encouraged.

The scenery is gorgeous, making it one of my favourite locations for photography.

However… Nobody warned me about the audience.

Scattered throughout the region are numerous mesh people standing perfectly still. They aren’t moving. They aren’t talking. They’re just… there. Watching.

Or not watching. Who knows?
Perhaps they’re waiting for someone. Perhaps they’re judging my bikini choices. Whatever the explanation, after a while I found myself glancing over my shoulder more often than I’d like. It gave the whole place an unexpected “holiday resort meets wax museum” vibe.

Verdict: Beautiful scenery, fantastic photo opportunities and plenty of romantic spots… if you don’t mind feeling like you’re constantly being observed by an army of mannequins.

Final Thoughts

Three beaches, three completely different experiences.

Margarita Beach is my pick for peaceful tropical relaxation, Boardwalk Beach wins for old-fashioned seaside fun, and Qaldera offers breathtaking scenery with just enough mild discomfort to keep things interesting.

Most importantly, I’ve now successfully justified buying at least three new bikinis.

This is what we in the blogging profession call research.
