This season Linden Lab kindly reminds Premium and Premium Plus members that they haven’t been spending enough time outdoors by releasing another collection of seasonal gifts. This time the theme is Outdoors 2026, available at the Premium Sandboxes, and it contains everything you need for an authentic wilderness experience: a tent, sleeping bags, a camping burner, flashlights, plenty of wearable goodies and… because apparently “a relaxing weekend in nature” wasn’t ambitious enough… an absolutely enormous activity cliff. Yes. An actual climbing wall, complete with poses.

Nothing says “peaceful camping trip” quite like conquering a small mountain before breakfast.

Now, I should probably confess that I absolutely love the outdoors. I enjoy long walks, fresh air, birds singing, sunshine filtering through the trees and all those wholesome things people put on motivational calendars.

I also love my own bathroom. And my fridge. And central heating. And Wi-Fi.

There is, in my opinion, a very delicate balance between ‘embracing nature’and ‘wondering whether that rustling sound is a squirrel or the beginning of the end.’ My ideal camping experience usually involves a hotel somewhere nearby, just in case.

Fortunately, this is Second Life, where camping comes without mosquitoes, rain, muddy boots or forgetting the tent poles at home. The only thing you can realistically trip over is your own inventory.

Home Improvements, Unexpected Edition

Rather than venturing into some distant wilderness, I decided to rez the camping setup in the backyard of my Linden Ranch. Why travel when you can enjoy nature literally outside your virtual back door?

The first thing I unpacked was the gigantic climbing rock.

For a brief moment I wondered whether I’d accidentally unpacked a geological event rather than a Premium gift. But then inspiration struck. Positioned cleverly along the edge of my property, it turned out to be the perfect privacy screen. No more awkward eye contact with the neighbours while I am  pretending not to inspect their landscaping, and no more wondering whether they’re secretly judging my decorating choices.

It’s basically the Second Life equivalent of building a garden fence. Except it’s a mountain. And it only costs 17 LI.

Frankly, that’s excellent value.

Five-Star Camping

With my brand-new cliff serving as both recreational activity and neighbourhood blocker, I placed the tent in front of it, threw the sleeping bags around, added the camping burner and called it a day.

Instant staycation.

The tent itself looks fantastic, detailed without being overcomplicated, and fits beautifully into a backyard setup or a proper forest campsite. The sleeping bags look wonderfully cosy, although I suspect I’d still somehow manage to sleep diagonally. 

The climbing wall is probably the surprise star of the collection. The included poses are genuinely fun, whether you’re confidently hanging of the rocks or looking like someone who instantly regrets every life choice that led to climbing them.

In other words, very relatable.

For the Real Adventurers

I haven’t even explored all the wearable items yet, because I became slightly distracted by building my own private national park, but there’s plenty more included. The standout for thrill-seekers is undoubtedly the hang glider, which lets the genuinely adventurous residents take it to the skies.

Personally, I’ll admire them from the ground. Safely. Near my fridge.

Final Verdict

The Outdoors 2026 Premium Gifts turned out to be far more fun than I expected. The tent looks wonderful, the accessories add plenty of atmosphere, the climbing wall is surprisingly entertaining, and the whole collection feels generous without feeling cluttered.

Even better, it reminded me that in Second Life I can enjoy all the best parts of camping without any of the inconvenient realities. No mosquitoes, no damp sleeping bags, no mysterious noises in the middle of the night and no discovering you’ve forgotten the coffee.

Just me, my backyard, my chickens, my brand-new mountain and the comforting knowledge that if camping becomes too exhausting, my actual house is approximately twelve virtual steps away.

Now that’s my kind of outdoor adventure.
