La Fée Verte: Green Dreams on Ice

A visit to La Fée Verte in Second Life, a modern absinthe salon glowing green, full of plants, cosy sofas, and perfect for friends and fun.

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to drink absinthe while trapped inside a snow globe, then La Fée Verte in Second Life is your next stop. This little island, completely covered in snow yet glowing suspiciously green, is home to an Art Nouveau-style absinthe salon that feels equal parts Parisian chic and psychedelic elf hangout.

From the outside, the building looks sleek and stylish, a kind of “absinthe headquarters” you’d expect hipster fairies to unionise in. Step inside, and you’re immediately greeted with lush greenery, Art Nouveau-style decor, sunny yellow sofas, and bottles of absinthe everywhere. Basically, it’s a jungle lounge that whispers, “Stay here long enough and you’ll forget snow even exists.”

Surrounded by absinthe, glowing green lights, and the promise of hallucinatory adventures, I sat down, and the furniture offered me a soda…. I felt betrayed on a spiritual level. Still, I sipped, because who says no to free virtual carbonation?

The lighting deserves its own shout-out. It’s green. Not just “eco-friendly shopping bag green” but a full-on, slightly trippy, “did I just lick a glow stick?” green. If your friends look a little greener after a while, don’t panic, it’s not the absinthe, it’s just the ambience.

All in all, La Fée Verte is a fantastic place to bring friends, snap photos, and pretend you’re one sip away from seeing the Green Fairy herself.

And if history has taught us anything, it’s that the Dutch have a fondness for absinthe. Banned in 1910, legalised again in 2005, and now carefully regulated with a thujone limit (that’s the wormwood magic, capped at 35 mg/ltr by the EU). But, personally, I find virtual absinthe to be safer than a real-life trip to the liquor store.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Even if your chair tricks you into soda, the green fairy vibe is worth it. And if you squint just right, the snow outside might even look like sugar cubes.

Santé! 🍸✨
