Having read about Inworldz, my curiosity made me create an account for this virtual world which is supposed to be better than Second Life, and where many who have left SL for various reasons have moved to.
Creative as I am, I named my Inworldz avatar: Caity Tobias (heh!). I downloaded the viewer and there I went..off to explore a new world. Exciting!!
My first impression, when clicking on the viewer, was that it is the old UI..as if I was thrown back in time a couple of years. I am using Viewer 2.xx and/or Kirstens S21 for so long, that I forgot how the old version worked. Argh!
Anyway, I entered the new world on a bridge/terrace were a few other avatars stood. Some chatted, but most were silent (about 10 people I guess). Needless to say, Caity looked like a true n00b-nightmare! System hair? Wah!

I walked to the nearby freebie-store (the first building you see). Well walked…. I waded through lag, up to my waist in the street. Can happen! I did not give up immediately and purchased a free skin, some hair, a dress, shoes and a shape (all freebies) and was, to be honest, not too thrilled with the result, but hey..This Caity has no money to spend and this was the first hour!

Oh, and an AO with sexy-walk, to complete this look. It made me feel like..well, a cheap noob?
In the freebiestore I also got a voucher from GurlyWood (a big hairshop in Second Life!) that offered newbies younger than 30 days free hair of your choosing. Ha, that sounded good, so off I went to their shop.
I chose some hair, which will be delivered soon, and meanwhile I picked up the free hair that was offered at the entrance, which looked better than the hair I got at the landing point.
Gurlywood was empty. In fact, the whole sim was empty. But laggy nonetheless, I kept on walking with my body halfway in the ground, very tiresome. On a square in front of the shop I found a terrace with some nice seats, so I sat down and took the time to explore and re-learn the use of this old-fashioned viewer (for me a real turn off) and looked on the map.

I tried to teleport to some places that seem to have people, but teleporting kept failing and I crashed.
That was basically my Inworldz experience so far. This was last December (Christmas) and I have to confess I have not gone back ever since, did not feel the need…Maybe one day I will dig this Caity up and go back to see if it’s better than my first experience, but for now…I just love Second Life :).
