You cannot have missed the news that Sansar has finally opened, though as Beta, for everyone to visit. I must say I have never been too excited and anxious about its coming, but of course I was curious.

And last night I finally had the time to download the viewer and hop into this new virtual world everyone is talking about!

It is not one world, but more a (growing) collections of worlds called ‘experiences’. It would be unfair to compare it to Second Life, but I tend to do that anyway – as I am so used to navigating through SL and taking pictures without having to think about my keyboard and which keys to use. So in that respect I found Sansar not that easy.

The avatars look ..meh…but all that aside: the experiences I have visited so far are really awesome and very photogenic. Yes, I miss the camera controls and there is no option to change the environment settings (no windlight), but for now that’s fine. The graphics are amazing, no blurry textures, no rezzing for minutes, no disappearing mesh in the distance, it all looks flawless.

And quiet. I have not met or seen any other avatar, perhaps I was in the wrong places or it is simply not that busy yet. I did not mind, to be honest, it was nice to fiddle around in peace and quiet and finding out how to walk properly.  Sitting or other animations, I have not discovered them yet!

To my delight, yes, it made me smile!, I visited ‘Village of Breeze’ by Kayle Matzerath – a place I have such fond memories of, as it is the recreation of Breeze – Kayle’s sim from the Fantasy Faire 2016!

And here is Breeze from the Fantasy Faire 2016:

I am sure I will go back, to see what is going on and how experiences are getting better – for now it is a great place to take screenshots and have a different kind of experience, but I was happy to log back in to Second Life, it felt like coming home!

‘I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone’s shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I’ll live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can’t take away my dignity
Because the greatest love of all
Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
Inside of me
The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all’

Last week I posed for the very talented Skip Staheli, after I booked him to create images of me, for profiles and so on.
Yes, I can do my own pics, but I admire Skip and his digital magic and after I posed for him last year, I thought it was time to get me a new set of images of my avatar done by him.

The other day I got some new hair (ORLY!) and it was ‘unisex’. No big deal, but as I was a tad bored I thought it would be fun to try this hair out on my Male. Not my alt, but my Male Caity I use when I adjust poses for men.

I went to the Vintage Fair, as it seemed a nice background for some pics. As a man, but in my Caity account. Just for posing. And this happened.

…you can always open it again, because well..that is what doors are for!

Not that I am going to be all philosophical, far from it, but somehow this version of the wellknown saying came to mind this week. After seeing two announcements on Flickr, about two sims I have always enjoyed visiting which will close soon: Binemist and Frisland.

Followers of my blog and Flickr will no doubt know I frequented those lovely places often the past years.

Berry’s meme for this week is all about Movie Posters, a theme she had done last year (which I don’t think I participated in) and a very cool one to do!

Of course I want to show off that I am a fan of really intelligent, difficult,  movies. Ya know Oscar material and nothing less….so after some binge-googling I found the perfect one for me and I think I  nailed it!

Life with Pies - Monday Meme

You can find all the information on this Challenge in Berry’s blogpost, and don’t forget to look at the comments in which you soon will find links to others as well!

The other day I saw a heartwarming Plurk from Casja Lillihook, telling about the real life struggles of SL hair creator Bubbles Clawtooth.
In short, Bubbles is taking care of his mother who suffers ALS and as such he has not much time in Second Life, let alone creating hair.
Please go to Casja’s blog to read more about Bubbles’ situation and why she is doing this blogpost as she does.

Clawtooth – Female Trouble in Delicious Wine

Casja suggested a blogger challenge, not so much a big deal fundraiser in support of Bubbles, but more a request to all bloggers, fashionistas and photographers to feature some of Clawtooth’s (awesome!) hair and so make people go to the shop and buy some. Or at least, it would be a sign of showing you care and appreciate him.

I happen to have lots of Clawtooths wonderful hairdo’s and when Strawberry Singh followed the hearfelt post of Casja and turned it into one of her popular blogger challenges/memes, I thought…oh why not!?

The Queen’s Gambit Declined (or QGD) is a chess opening in which Black declines a pawn offered by White in the Queen’s Gambit:

1. d4 d5
2. c4 e6

This is known as the Orthodox Line of the Queen’s Gambit Declined. When the “Queen’s Gambit Declined” is mentioned, it is usually assumed to be referring to the Orthodox Line.

Before you think that I know how to play chess…nope. I do not. At.all.  I got this information from wikipedia, hey hoo and thank the internet for googling!
The reason I had to Google this was because Queen’s Gambit Declined is the title of Rebeca Bashly’s current art installation at MetaLES.
