Autumn Has Arrived, and Apparently I Am Now a Cider Magnate 🍎🍂

I am still clinging to my previous Premium Gift. Literally.

Back in August, Linden Lab gave Premium members an entire outdoor camping collection, including a tent, sleeping bags, camping equipment and, most importantly, an absolutely enormous climbing rock that I promptly installed in the backyard of my Linden Ranch. It turned out to be both an entertaining climbing wall and, much more importantly, an extremely effective privacy screen between me and my neighbours, because nothing says “I am a friendly and sociable resident” quite like putting a small mountain between your property and theirs. You can read all about my camping adventures and my new geological privacy fence here.

I thought we were done. I thought autumn would arrive quietly, with perhaps a pumpkin or two, a tasteful decorative tree, maybe a nice little basket of apples that I could put somewhere and forget about until Christmas.

But no. Linden Lab looked at my ranch and apparently thought: “This woman needs a cider business.”

And who am I to argue with Linden Lab?

🍎 Welcome to the Ranch, Please Enjoy Our Cider

The new Autumn 2026 Premium Gift is not so much a gift as it is an entire autumnal lifestyle being delivered directly into your inventory.

There is a cider stand, cider bottles, hot cider mugs, apples, pumpkin, pies, bread, sunflowers, a donut stand and donuts. And more.

There are even different Linden and Mole cider flavours, because apparently even fictional construction workers need to have opinions about their beverages.

At some point while unpacking everything I started wondering whether I had accidentally accepted a franchise opportunity. I mean, this is no longer simply decorating the ranch. This is a business plan.

So naturally, I put the cider stand in my front yard.

Suddenly I look like a very productive and successful Second Life rancher who wakes up at six in the morning, puts on sensible boots, harvests apples, bakes pies, makes fresh bread, presses cider, arranges sunflowers and then spends the afternoon standing proudly beside her enormous roadside cider operation.

In reality, I probably spent considerably longer moving the cider bottles around until they looked right than an actual rancher would spend producing the cider.

But nobody needs to know that. From the outside, I am clearly thriving.

🍺 The Cider Experience™

The cider bottles and hot cider are not merely decorative either, because they will actually give you something to drink.

Well. Sort of.

The drinking animations are perhaps taking a more minimalist artistic approach. With the bottle, you basically hold the bottle. There isn’t exactly a dramatic “Ahhh, refreshing!” drinking experience, but I suppose we should be grateful that the bottle is at least there, looking convincingly cider-ish.

The hot cider is slightly more adventurous. The mug attached itself to my thumb. I am not entirely sure whether I was drinking the cider or whether my thumb had simply been promoted to official cider cup holder, but there we were.

I decided not to question it. This is Second Life. We have avatars with floating skirts, hair that occasionally develops its own gravitational laws and furniture that requires you to sit three metres away from it to find the correct animation. A cider mug attached to my thumb is hardly going to bring civilization to its knees.

And really, who cares about tiny details when your entire front yard now looks like the set of a wholesome autumn movie?

🍩 There Is Also a Donut Stand, Because Apparently Cider Alone Wasn’t Enough

And then there is the donut stand. Because naturally.

If you are going to establish a cider empire, you cannot possibly operate without baked goods.

The whole thing is very autumnal, very cosy and very much in keeping with the sort of Second Life scenery that makes you want to put on a knitted sweater, walk through fallen leaves and pretend you have an adorable little life in a tiny village where everybody knows your name and nobody has ever sent you a group notice about a 15-minute sale.

The items themselves are nicely made, colourful without being ridiculous and full of those little details that make a seasonal decoration set actually fun to use rather than something you rez once, take a picture of and immediately return to your inventory graveyard.

And there is a lot of it. A lot. Really, really a lot. So much, in fact, that when I finished unpacking everything I briefly wondered whether Linden Lab expected me to open a second parcel.

🍂 My Cider Stand Is Bigger Than Some People’s Houses

There is only one tiny problem. The cider stand is rather large.

When I first rezzed it, I had the slightly alarming realisation that it was the size of a small guesthouse. Which, to be fair, is fantastic news if my cider business fails. I can simply rent it out.

“Welcome to the Ranch Cider Guesthouse. Breakfast included. Complimentary apple on arrival.”

It does mean that you need a little space for it, but since I already have a fairly spacious ranch parcel, I had plenty of room to play around with it. And that turned out to be one of the things I enjoyed most about this gift.

I started moving things around. Then I moved them again. Then I decided the pumpkins looked better over there. Then the apples needed to be closer to the stand. And the cider bottles needed arranging.

Before I knew it, I had spent a ridiculous amount of time happily arranging an imaginary cider business in my front yard. And I loved it.

🍁 Autumn Has Officially Taken Over

There is something really nice about these seasonal Premium Gifts when they give you enough pieces to actually do something with them instead of simply giving you one decorative object and sending you on your way.

This set gives you options.

You can use the whole thing together and create your own little autumn market, or you can pick individual pieces and scatter them around your home, garden or parcel. The apples, pumpkins, bread, pies, sunflowers and drinks can easily find their way into other builds too, so you don’t necessarily have to become a full-time cider entrepreneur just because Linden Lab handed you the equipment. Although I personally recommend embracing your destiny.

As for me, I may actually leave the cider stand in my front yard until Christmas.

Which means I have now gone from climbing a rock in my backyard to running an autumn cider and pie business in my front yard.

This is apparently what Premium membership has done to me. And you know what? I’m not complaining.

🍎 Verdict: I Will Be Accepting Cider Payments

The Autumn 2026 Premium Gift is a big, generous and genuinely fun collection, and it fits beautifully into a cosy autumn setting. Yes, the cider stand could probably qualify for its own property tax, and yes, the drinking animations could perhaps use a tiny bit of attention, but those are very small complaints when you look at how much stuff is included.

There is enough here to have fun decorating, experimenting and rearranging, and I suspect I will be finding new places for individual pieces long after the autumn leaves have disappeared.

For now, though, my ranch has cider, donuts, pumpkins, apples, pies, bread and sunflowers.I have apparently become a successful autumn entrepreneur.

All I need now is a little sign saying “Fresh Cider — Linden Dollars Accepted” and perhaps an expensive coffee machine. Business is booming.
