I am Second Life

Recently, a tweet by VCSL (Tori Greyson) caught my attention. VCSL was seeking individuals to pose for a portrait for their upcoming exhibition, “I am Second Life.” What piqued my interest even more was that the exhibition would be showcased not only in the virtual world of Second Life but also in the physical world.

It’s not every day that you come across an exhibition that bridges the gap between the virtual and physical worlds. This unique showcase aims to bring together individuals from all walks of Second Life to share their stories through portraiture. The exhibition’s name, “I am Second Life,” signifies that our virtual personas are just as important as our real-life selves.

As a lover of art projects, I eagerly filled out the form and scheduled a photoshoot. The process was surprisingly quick and efficient, with the actual posing taking only about 20 minutes in my case. Just a week later, I received a watermarked copy of my portrait and a framed version for my Second Life home, along with some additional shots. While I’m not sure how many portraits will be featured, it’s clear that there will be a large number on display.

The VCSL Gallery will be hosting the exhibition’s opening on Saturday, April 1st, with two separate events scheduled to accommodate different time zones. The first event will take place from 2-4 PM SLT, followed by a second event from 6-8 PM SLT, both featuring music by DJs. Naturally, I plan to attend, as I’m excited to see the diverse range of photographs and avatar styles on display. All are welcome to join, so I hope to see you there!
