Beach, Please: 3 Second Life Shores Worth Logging In For

Summer’s here, and in the name of research (and because my inventory has 32 swimsuits that deserve attention), I went exploring to find the best beaches to hang out in Second Life. Spoiler: I did not get a tan. But I did sip virtual cocktails, dodged sharks, and almost drowned in a surfing attempt that can only be described as “tragically enthusiastic.”

Here are three summer beach spots, reviewed with love, curiosity and possibly some sand in unfortunate places.

🌊 Kanaloa Surf Beach

For sporty types and people who say “Cowabunga” unironically.

Let’s get this out of the way: I do not surf. I tried. I fell. I got stuck under a wave and looked like a lost yoga mat rolling in the ocean. But if you can surf (or like to pretend while taking cool pics), Kanaloa is the place. It’s beautifully decorated with surfboards and lounge chairs, and in golden hour lighting, it makes even the worst wipeout look poetic.

You can grab a free surfboard and head for the massive wave. Or, like me, just pose with the board near the beach bar and make up stories about the “one that got away.” Best enjoyed with friends who won’t laugh too hard when you faceplant into the sea foam.

Vibe: Baywatch meets Hawaii
Activities: Surfing, lounging, pouting dramatically at sunsets
My Rating: 5/5 for style, 2/5 for my balance

🏝️ LOST

For those who like their beach days with a side of chaos and existential dread.

Ever wanted to sip coffee next to a burning airplane engine while being watched by a few sharks? Then LOST is your dream destination. This island is perfect for adventurous types or people who think “Cast Away” was a lifestyle guide. There’s a crashed plane, circling sharks, and distant screams from other survivors who clearly didn’t read the group chat instructions.

But somehow… it works? There are cosy airplane seats by a campfire, and yes, there’s actual coffee. It’s edgy. It’s weird. It’s kind of fabulous.

Vibe: Survivor: Fashion Edition
Activities: RP, exploring, and dramatic monologues into the ocean
My Rating: 4/5 for originality, 0/5 for safety regulations

🏖️ Dutch Coast

For chill days, peaceful vibes, and posing like you’re in a tourist brochure.

Ahhh, the Dutch Coast. Wide sandy beaches, calm atmosphere, soft lighting, and absolutely no deadly predators or flaming wreckage. It’s peaceful, photogenic, and perfect if your idea of a good time is sitting on a blanket with a book prop, pretending to read while your alt takes pictures.

There are plenty of cute little seating spots, dunes to wander through, and zero pressure to do anything remotely athletic. Just you, the sea breeze, and a sense of coastal tranquillity. Bonus points because it didn’t trigger any dramatic flashbacks from surfing at Kanaloa.

Vibe: Zen AF
Activities: Photoshoots, quiet chats, pretending you live here full-time
My Rating: 5/5 for the view to the cute lighthouse

Second Life beaches really have it all: surf, sand, and a surprising amount of possible RP. Whether you want to ride the waves, survive a fictional plane crash, or just lounge in peace, there’s a shoreline with your name on it.

Now I have to run, I have to go unpack the 18 beach towels I didn’t use.
