Let’s be honest — Second Life can be a lot. Between crashy teleport disasters, wardrobe malfunctions, social slip-ups, and yes, accidentally wearing a cocktail bar on your butt (see my last post if you’re confused), it’s a miracle any of us keep logging in.
But we do. Why? Because, for all its chaos, Second Life has also given me some of the most meaningful, hilarious, and unexpectedly rewarding experiences. So today, I’m flipping the script — no facepalms, no cringe. Just a few of the moments that made all the fails absolutely worth it.
Friends That Stuck Around
Second Life has this magical way of bringing people into your orbit who somehow just… stay. What starts as a casual “hi” on a sim or a shared photo op can turn into real friendships, the kind where you support each other through virtual chaos and real-life nonsense.
Over the years, I’ve met people who’ve become a daily part of my life. We’ve gone from strangers on pose stands to friends I can truly depend on. Whether it’s exploring new sims, dancing in a club, or just hanging out talking nonsense, those connections are priceless.
Fantasy Faire — From Tourist to Volunteer
If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know I’ve always loved the Fantasy Faire. At first, I just visited, wandering through the stunning regions, snapping photos of glowing mushrooms and awesome builds, and fangirling over the creativity.
Over the past 12 years, I’ve gone from visitor to volunteer. I now help manage Fantasy Faire’s official social media and YouTube channel. It’s been a joy to give back to something I love — sharing the magic with others and working alongside some of the most talented and passionate people in Second Life.

The Movie Adventures with Huck
Collaborating with Huckleberry Hax on not one, but two feature-length machinima films is something I never expected, but now treasure deeply.
I was lucky enough to be involved in both Stömol and Waarheid, from voice acting to prop and location-hunting to endless “wait, we need the scene to rez properly” sessions. These weren’t quick projects. They were journeys. Long ones. But worth every minute.
🎬 Watch Stömol
🎬 Watch Waarheid
Watching the finished films, knowing I had a hand in helping bring them to life, that’s one of those “wow, Second Life really is amazing” moments.

This Blog, My Pixel Soapbox
Sure, I’ve taken the occasional hiatus (life happens, and sometimes so does writer’s block), but this blog has always been something I return to with love. Writing about Second Life, whether I’m reviewing sims, sharing stories, or documenting my virtual adventures, is actually relaxing.
And when I hit “Publish” and someone messages me to say they laughed, or that they visited a place I recommended? That’s the win. That’s why I do it. It’s not just a blog, it’s my little pixel soapbox, and I’m always happy when people stop by to listen.

Second Life is full of fails, but honestly? I wouldn’t trade them, because they led me to the wins. The people, the projects, the creative spark, they’re what keep this virtual world more than just a game. It’s messy, ridiculous, and often unpredictable… but also kind of amazing.
So here’s to more Riverdancing mishaps and movie premieres. More wearable bars and lifelong friends.
Got a Second Life win of your own? Share it. We all need the reminder now and then that this virtual world of ours can really shine!

My big Second Life win was getting hired by Gorean Whip Radio based on some recordings of DJ sets I’d done, and working there as a broadcaster & ad-production manager for 7.5 years. 🙂
