MachinimUWA IV: Art of the Artist

In June the UWA (University of Western Australia) kicked off their 4th Art of the Artist event.
Machinima artists from all over the world sent in their works and the result is a list of 81 (!!) machinima’s, produced by SL’s most creative people. The artists go their inspiration from the many art projects, hosted by UWA. A couple of them I have visited and blogged about.

Now this Machinima event, a big one! On 11 December the winners will be announced, judged by a panel of professionals and artlovers – hence no popularity contest!
For the audience the UWA has a nice side contest though: the Audience Participation Event! Send in your top 10 of your choice.
The 3 participants whose order comes closest to the final order decided by the judging panel (as below), will win for themselves L$10,000, L$6,000 and L$4,000 each. The first prize winner will also be invited to be on the panel for MachinimUWA V and ALL 3 will receive in the mail a special pack that includes a copy of the book, ‘100 Treasures of UWA’ which was produced for UWA’s Centenary.

All details about this you can find on their official website: click here.

On the site you will also find the complete list with all 81 entries, so that will keep you busy watching for a while…heh!

I wish I had the time to dive into this and make my top 10, but unfortunately I do not see that happen before the deadline of 30 November. Is no problem, I am never into competitions myself, but I really like this idea. I will, of course, amuse myself with watching the movies as much as I can!

My favourite is from the lovely, and very talented Fuschia Nightfire, who transformed SL Art installations into real life paintings and blended that into a wonderful machinima.

Sit back and enjoy….
