‘What are words worth?
What are words worth? Words
Words in papers, words in books
Words on TV, words for crooks
Words of comfort, words of peace
Words to make the fighting cease
Words to tell you what to do
Words are working hard for you
Eat your words but don’t go hungry
Words have always nearly hung me’
This song of the Tom Tom Club popped up when I read Berry‘s new Monday Meme, which is all about books! And thus..words.A series of questions, which I will of course answer in this post, and which gave me some inspiration for pics to go with it!
* Are you a bookworm? Oh yes! I have books allover the house, and usually am reading at least two. One in bed and one on the sofa…and when not at home..I have my kindle app synchronized on phone and iPad so never without a book!
* Which do you prefer: hardcover, paperback or electronic? When at home I read mostly paperbacks, occasionally I have a hardcover book and yes, I also have the kindle app on my iPad, which is perfect when travelling. I like em all.
* Which book is your favorite? I have many favourites but one that always comes to mind when asked is ‘The World According to Garp ‘ by John Irving, followed by ‘Miss Smilla’s feeling for Snow’ by Peter Hoeg
* Which children’s book is your favorite? That would be a Dutch one, of course, ‘Pinkeltje’ (Fingerling) by Dick Laan.
* What’s the last book you’ve read? ‘A Casual Vacancy’ by JK Rowling and ‘Guards! Guards!’ by Terry Pratchett
* Name your top five favorite writers: John Irving, Patricia Cornwell, Jan Wolkers, Terry Pratchett and Dick Laan
* Name a book that had a strong impact on you: ‘Diary of a young girl’ by Anne Frank
* Favorite & least favorite book genres? I do not particularly like the overly romantic books, I love some fantasy but prefer thrillers and detectives.
* Favorite & least favorite book-to-movie adaptions? I have yet to see the movie that was as good as the book I’ve read, it is usually a deception and ruins my fantasy. The last that comes to mind is …Tom Hanks in the Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. Awful. I mean…Tom Hanks?! Seriously that was not the handsome inspector I had in mind when reading the books! Bah!
* Have you ever bought a book based on the cover alone? No
* Where do you usually buy your books? At my local bookstore or any store I happen to walk in and where I see something I may like, for my Kindle App I have to buy online on Amazon.
* Do you go to the library? Not anymore, I did when I was in college and the years when internet did not exists :P
* How many books do you own? Many. I guess around 1000, maybe more. My livingroom is filled with bookcases. So is my kitchen, with cookbooks!
* If you were to write a book about Second Life, which topic would you focus on? I think I would write a travel-guide, much like I try to do with my blog!
* Dress Ariela by Junbug
* Books: Magic Books by Magritta, from some event years ago and I have NO clue, the items don’t show much else either…sorry!
