Yesterday I visited LEA8, and initially I thought – upon landing looking at the land information – I landed in ‘WE’ by Eupalinos Uganjin. Upon walking about I noticed the names of the parcels changed and when I saw work of Bryn Oh and Sorror Nishi…I knew I needed to do some more research on this installation. The information on the sim didn’t provide enough!
But then there is Ziki Questi and fortunately she has blogged very detailed about this project, as it turned out to be called “The Golden Age of Russian Avant Garde” a collaboration of Alpha Auer, Bryn Oh, Caer Balogh, Euaplinos Ugajin, Jo Ellsmere, Nessuno Myoo and Soror Nishi and curated by curated by Rose Borchovski and filmmaker Peter Greenaway.
So, now it made sense to me! I do recommend you read Ziki’s excellent post AND go visit this amazing installation! I particularly enjoyed the ‘performance’ of 5 avatars (scripted agents), which is really amazing! My pictures really do not do the works justice, as there is much movement and action which is hard to capture in an image. Also, while you are wandering about..don’t forget to pick up some of the wonderful free avatars!
Caity, I agree, Jo’s choreographed avatars are amazing! Lots to see in that sim. And thanks for the link.
