Today Xiola Linden posted a blog and a thread, for Second Life’s 12th anniversary, including a YouTube videoclip with theme’What Second Life means to me’. A wonderful video, made by Torley, and within minutes Strawberry Singh posted hers – made by Draxtor.
The idea is, to have residents make a video and share their view on what Second Life means to them.
I have to admit, I was somewhat intimidated at first…by watching the profesional videos from Xiola and Strawberry and my first reaction was : ‘yeah, nice..but we do not all have a Torley or a Draxtor at hand to produce a video!’
Anyway, I gave it some thought and went googling on machinima software and whatnot and ended up with FRAPS, a free software to record inworld clips. OK, since this is all new to me, I downloaded the free version.
It took me some hours to fiddle about, and decided to give it a go.
I added some pictures in it, as my video- work inworld isn’t that wonderful and recorded myself via another service to create some sort of voice-over, in my most posh English..ahem! (I used this free online voice recorder).
Then some hours playing in Windows Moviemaker…and finally uploaded it to YouTube!
Hey..if I can do this..you can too!
